The Westin Resort, Nusa Dua, Bali

Over the last few years, Bali has emerged as a top travel destination. It’s not very hard to see why, owing to its pristine blue waters, serene temples, lush greenery, incredible food and pumping nightlife. As part of our team member Vinayak’s annual travel plans, he hit up Bali with his friends for a week full of exploring the ocean, eating out and dancing the night away. After a few wild nights, Vinayak chose to visit The Westin Resort Nusa Dua for a celebratory meal. Nusa Dua is a southern area of Bali that is known for its white sand beaches. Anyone who stays at the Westin gets the full Bali culinary experience through their restaurant, Ikan.

Ikan, or the Indonesian word for fish, is a beachfront restaurant that overlooks the deep blue Indian Ocean. Enjoying the cool breeze, the chatter of the restaurant is muffled by the sound of the waves crashing in. In this open-air seating by the sea, naturally, the heart craves fresh seafood and it’s exactly what Ikan delivers. They serve authentic Balinese specials and European food that heavily features island-fresh seafood, true to the name of the restaurant.

One of his favourite dishes was the Ayam Betutu, a traditional chicken dish made with spicy red chili pepper and coconut oil sauce which was packed with rich flavour. The Clingklak was a platter of Balinese appetisers, featuring chicken satay, spring rolls, corn fritters, fried prawns, and more. They also enjoyed their every-bit-authentic Nasi Goreng, and the final, star order of his meals here: their Avocado Chicken Burger. It was every bit delicious, juicy and satisfying as it looks in the photo.

Apart from their expertly made cocktails, Vinayak also claims that he had the best coconut water of his life here – more refreshing than your expectations.

There are so many things to see and do in Bali, and for foodies like us, we make separate food itineraries everywhere we go. If you’re the same, then we recommend adding The Westin Resort Nusa Dua to your must-visit list.
