Inside Quizzr Cafe & Diner | All The Deets
The other day my colleague and I were really bored of ordering lunch in the office, so we decided to get out for a quick bite. He had heard about this new cafe Quizzr Cafe & Diner that had opened up in Veera Desai so we decided to check it out.
Newly opened up in Andheri by the makers of Bar Stock Exchange and Agent Jack’s, Quizzr is a cafe like no other we’ve been to! Everything here is inspired by games and is made playful and exciting, from the décor to the menus.
We walked into this cafe and were delighted by the highly energetic and colourful decor and vibe. Flower pots adorned the entrance while big glass windows flooded the space with natural light while offering views of the street in front of the restaurant. This bright space was the perfect pick me up for our mid-week blues!
As soon as you sit down you’ll be presented with an iPad each, these are synched to each other. Once you place your order, you are led to a quiz game where you play five rounds of 15 seconds each and can get you upto a 50% discount on your entire order bill. We really fought hard for that discount but didn’t manage to make it.
Everyone on the table can play and compete with each other with quizzes based on topics like Bollywood, cricket, music, general knowledge and even a mixed bag. This is a great way to while away your time while you wait for your food to be prepared and also encourages some friendly competition between friends!
Their menu is a fusion of Asian, Indian, Italian and American specialties. They have about 135 dishes listed on the menu which can be incredibly hard to navigate. We get that they want to serve all age groups and not limit themselves to a particular target audience however we’ve seen this all too often in India. Butter chicken besides a burrito? We aren’t sure how we feel about that.
After exploring their extensive menu, we started our meal with the Sicilia Pizza which was recommended by our server. Sun dried tomatoes, caramelized onions and warm cheese were generously portioned out over the perfectly crisp base.
From their appetizers we tried the Spicy Lemony Grilled Fish which was not well balanced and under-seasoned. The Khow Suey here was exactly what you would expect however we didn’t find the flavour up to the mark. While this was a good order, there were definitely some better options to explore on the menu.
If you love vada pav, then you need to try their Vada Pav Fondue which had spicy vada pav dipped in creamy cheese sauce and is absolutely delightful! They have quite a few Mexican dishes on the menu and we chose their 7 layered Mexican Shots. Yes you read that right! Flavours of Mexico in a shot glass consisting of baked beans as the base, topped with sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, and nacho chips! They also have a section on the menu dedicated to gourmet chaat so we tried the Tic Tac O Chat, which were tacos in chaat style. I personally loved this dish as it had a bunch of different flavours and textures which came together wonderfully.
They have a huge dessert section of which we tried three dishes. The Tiramisu Jar Dessert was divine and we gobbled it down in a few minutes! Crunchy biscuit layered with bitter coffee and whipped cream made for the perfect treat.
The Blueberry Jar Dessert on the other hand felt like an overload of whipped cream and weirdly sour blueberry sauce which was not pleasing at all.The Caramel Waffles were a pleasant surprise. Having the shape of bubble waffles, they were crispy, soft, doused in caramel sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream and were toothsome.
Quizzr Cafe & Diner is a great, new way to experience food. We would love to come back with a big group of friends and explore their bar menu more thoroughly while sticking to some of our favourites like the pizzas, Vada Pav Fondue and Tiramisu Jar Dessert!
