I live in Mahim, I love to eat and I truly feel that the restaurants in and around my area are highly underrated. From North Indian to Chinese, Malwani to South Indian, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Even after living here for the past three years, I haven’t stopped exploring.

Here are some of my picks in Dadar, Shivaji Park and Prabhadevi that you need to try right now.

Shivaji Park

Open House Cafe and Bar

A friendly neighbourhood bar that offers great food, amazing offers on drinks and an in-house DJ to play your all-time favourites. You can’t step out of the place without trying the Bacon N Cheese Fries, Prawns Butter Garlic and Margherita Pizza. I visited this place only yesterday and I am still salivating.

Terttulia

I was fortunate enough to try Terttulia before I moved to Mahim. And, I was impressed from the get-go. Courtesy: The Karari Roti and pepperoni pizza. With elegant and bright interiors, Terttulia is the ideal place for date nights and family dinners. What else you should try on their menu? EVERYTHING!

Home Chef

If there’s one dish that I can have every day, it has to be spaghetti aglio olio. So much so that I usually order it at every restaurant I go to. One gloomy afternoon, I decided to order my favourite pasta from Home Chef, and I was bowled over. The restaurant is surely among my top picks for spaghetti in the city and is also great for a quick coffee catch up or when you want to do a little work. The interiors are simple and sparse which means you can’t divert any attention away from the food. Apart from this, you have to try out their grilled chicken and pizzas.

Dadar

Pritam Da Dhaba

Let’s face it, there are only a few places in Mumbai that prepare authentic butter chicken the way a Punjabi would approve. One of them is Pritam Da Dhaba. Apart from chicken, the place aces dal makhani, roomali roti and jalebis. Moreover, the vibe of the place with manjas, punjabi music and the bright decor is a total win-win.

MRP – My Regular Place

Now, if you’re in Dadar and want to party till the wee hours in the morning on Friday and Saturday, MRP is your place. From 6pm to 9pm, the place serves everything on MRP and that’s what makes it a weekend favourite. Their chicken wings and fried prawns can’t be missed!

Chaitanya

Chicken lollipops are pretty common but have you tried crab lollipops? Sounds tempting, doesn’t it? This is a Chaitanya speciality. The crab is so soft that it’ll literally melt in your mouth and it’s not super oily so you don’t need to feel guilty after having a few. This is what I call a seafood heaven.

Prabhadevi

Mandala

If healthy eating is your jam, you have to try Mandala in Prabhadevi. Of course, their salads are good but what’s better? The Korean Bibimbap! However, they only deliver which makes it the perfect option for a rainy day when all you want to do is Netflix, chill and eat.

China Valley

The name says it all, doesn’t it? With traditional decor and Indianized Chinese food, China Valley is a great spot for family lunch or dinner. Their crab meat soup and burnt garlic rice is among my favourites as is their long list of appetisers and mains.

Shashi Coastal Treat

I love seafood which is why I make it my job to find the best seafood restaurants in every neighbourhood. In Prabhadevi, Shashi Coastal Treat, a restaurant that specializes in Mangalorean cuisine is my top seafood pick. A quaint, little restaurant that offers the best of coastal food. My favourites dishes here are the prawns koliwada, surmai fry and neer dosa.

Wait. Are you skipping your usual visit to Bandra and Andheri and heading to these restaurants? I don’t blame you.
