Food From Around The Globe At Rocky Star Cocktail Bar!

Rocky Star is a well-known name in the world of fashion. While many globally acclaimed designers have established cocktail bars across the world, Rocky S, as he is popularly known, happens to be one of the first Indian designers to have done so.

Ever since Rocky S started out, he had a dream to establish a cocktail bar which came to light with Rocky Star Cocktail Bar for which he joined hands with restaurateur Priyank Sukhija.

Having heard a lot about this recently opened cocktail bar in the always buzzing Kamala Mills, I thought I’d check the space out!

It didn’t come as a surprise that the decor spelt grandeur, as it has been designed entirely in collaboration with the celebrated home decor brand Bent Chair. The dimly lit interiors showcase a blend of vintage and modern design, with golden and black hues setting the tone for the evening.

While surveying the food and the cocktail menu, I chatted with an extremely courteous server who informed me that the menu is a complete reflection and an ode to Rocky S’s travels around the globe.

The dishes are named after the cities from which they are inspired and include soups, salads, small plates, large plates, pizzas, pastas, burgers and desserts. The cocktail menu features 31 cocktails which are numbered, which is something I haven’t come across before and makes it so much easier to order once you get a little dazed after a few drinks.

We started off with the cocktails and The No. 7 won our hearts! This was a floral and fruity concoction of galangal beer, basil, rose, apple syrup and it burst with flavours of berries. Laced with rum it had a beautiful smoky taste that lingered on. My companion tried The No. 27 which was very similar to a classic cosmopolitan and packed a punch with the refreshing flavours of pomegranate.

From the small plates, we tried The Monte Carlo that had a creamy chicken and mushroom mousse served with beetroot relish, asparagus and some garlic bread. We may or may not have wiped the entire plate clean which is a testament to how great our first order was. The Barcelona celebrates the famous Spanish patata bravas, and had baby potatoes roasted in a creamy garlic aioli sauce that added character to the potatoes.

The Argos was a delectable, grilled seafood platter with salmon fillets and prawns smeared with a very well balanced, smooth and creamy béarnaise sauce. I will definitely be going back for this dish, for it was the highlight of our meal.

Feeling a little stuffed, we took a break from the food and tried out two more cocktails from their impeccable bar. If you’re a fan of a good banana and chocolate milkshake, then try The No.10, a cocktail which adds a twist to the milkshake with the addition of dark rum. Ask for The No. 29 if you are looking for something more potent. An interesting blend of vodka, butterscotch syrup and chocolate sauce, this cocktail is topped with popcorn. Not only does it look super, it tastes great too!

It’s okay if you skip the flatbreads as they weren’t as exciting as some of the better dishes on the menu. We proceeded to savour the extremely delicious spaghetti: The Verona. Seafood lovers, you are in for a treat as they surely hit all the right spots with this beautifully simple dish. The blue swimmer crab combined with tons of garlic gave this dish just enough flavour without going overboard.

Our stomachs might’ve been full but we made some extra room for desserts as always. The menu lists three desserts out of which we ordered The Catalonia and The Peru. The former was a plate of chocolatey goodness and had elements of hazelnut mousse, a chocolate gold bar, chocolate shot and a butter cookie. The latter featured a classic French vanilla crème brulee topped with passion fruit crystals and looked super pretty as it had edible glitter sprinkled all over it.

Overall, my experience at Rocky Star Cocktail Bar was a memorable one. The sultry interiors teamed with the global food menu, the eclectic cocktails and great music all add up to give you an elevated dining experience! Do check out their private dining space if you plan to throw a fancy party anytime soon.
