The monsoon sky has started looking lovely after our endless summer. While the city and citizens battle with the clouds this season, the new openings continue to blossom across the city. This month we’re foreseeing heavy food traffic in Lower Parel and Bandra. Read on:

Kode, Lower Parel
Massive Group launched a new restaurant in Kamala Mills on 19th June. Kode means ‘chill’ as per Urban Dictionary. The idea behind this restaurant is to be a space that people chill at, while maintaining a modern and chic ambience. On entering, you’re greeted by a well-lit, stunning bar, housing a selection of over 150 whisky brands from all over the world. Their menu includes 3 course cocktails, small bites, savoury homemade churros, a range of Turkish Pide, quesadillas, tacos, dim sums, and more.

Offering the promise of Hispanic food, Luca features dishes from South America, the Caribbean, and even Mexico. The cheerful space with ample daylight lets the food shine under a  skylight that lights the space beautifully during the day. While one sits on colourful chairs with mismatched fabric, the menu is an interesting read. Apart from usual suspects like soups and starters, you’ll find a tiny selection of ceviche and wider selections of burritos, cocas, and enchiladas. We doubt there’s a wider selection of nachos on any menu in Mumbai.
Open daily from 11 to 1:30 AM at Unit No.1, Mathuradas Mills Compound, Tulsi Pipe Road, Lower Parel.

La Folie Lab, Lower Parel

Chef Sanjana Patel’s widest menu yet offers fresh produce in a range of casual, easy eating plates. The minimal decor lends an airiness to the space. Seating is in on sleek, compact tables and chairs, although the corner table by a circular window is one you’d want to sit at instantly. Order from a menu that lists all day breakfast, soup and salad bowls, light eats, plates, freshly handmade pasta, and sandwiches. Drinks include housemade beverages and an extensive coffee section with Nitro coffee by Svami as well as a choice of cold brews. Ps – they also have a Jain menu.
Open daily from 8:30 AM to 11 PM at Unit 10, World Trade B, Ground Floor, Kamla Mills.

Mahlzeit, Carter Road

With a seating capacity of barely 5, this new eatery focuses on German street food. You might be familiar with its Pune outlet at Koregaon Park or from stalls at Weekender. The menu lists popular sausages like bratwurst and currywurst, as well as burgers, doner kebabs, and salads. They serve potatoes four ways – including a farmer’s breakfast of fried potatoes with eggs and mayonnaise called bauernfrühstück. Definitely try the Club Mate, a uniquely flavoured tea-based caffeinated drink.
Open daily from Noon to 3 PM & 6:30 PM to 11 PM at 1, Sefa House, Pali Mala Road, Pali Hill, Bandra West
