Bite Into Creamy Avocado on Crunchy Toast | Dishticle
We can hardly eveg begin to decide why we love avocado. It could be its creamy texture or its gentle flavour, or even that the emoji for it looks so cool.
However, we know good quality avocado isn’t the easiest thing to find around the city, as we usually have to rely on imports or the few farmers that manage to grow it well.
It’s best to rely on restaurants, bars, and cafes for this, as they’ve made finding suppliers for almost anything an art form.
Here are some nearby places you can get yourself a delicious avocado toast:
Kitchen Garden by Suzette, Pali Hill
This chic café serves salads sprinkled with some of the best avocados around since opening last year. The new menu introduced here features Avocado on Toast if you visit for breakfast. Served on a bed of pesto with the pleasant punch of sundried tomato, this one’s got a spectrum of enjoyable texture and flavour.
Quick tip: Make it better by adding a generous dollop of feta.
Candy and Green, Breach Candy
The commitment to fresh, hearty produce is a huge part of what makes Candy and Green one of the nicest vegetarian restaurants in South Bombay. It’s because of this commitment that their Avocado on Toast isn’t always available, as serving sub-par produce is not their style. However, when available, the Avocado Toast is served on toasted sourdough. The smashed avocado and hazelnut dukkah are then drizzled with avocado oil for some extra depth in flavour.
Quick tip: Finish a meal here with the No More Depresso Mousse.
The Table, Colaba
Chef Alex Sanchez’s Avocado Toast here features house-made ricotta, crushed chilli, and sweet pepper on toasted sourdough. The simple, elegant plating and attention to fresh ingredients make this dish rise levels above most versions of the dish around the city.
Quick tip: Few things top the Truffle Fries and Zucchini Spaghetti here.
It Happened In New York, Reclamation
As a part of their ‘From The Deli’ menu, the Avocado Toast at the elegant It Happened In New York is a safe bet. The choice of base here is a refreshing rye, instead of the sourdough omnipresent everywhere. The pickled baby radish serves as a pleasant deviation of acidic flavour. You can pick from between waffle or shoestring fries on the side if you’re feeling indulgent or be healthier and pick a salad instead.
Quick tip: From the three levels here, our favourite is the colourful, modern ground floor.
The Nutcracker, Fort
It’s probably impossible to order something off the menu at this charming café and not enjoy it. Although the space is small in size and egg-etarian, their special menu combines two classics in its Hummus & Avocado on Toast. Served with the accompaniments of pickled cucumber, tomatoes, guacamole, and goat cheese, the dish is topped with a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds.
Quick tip: We’ve raved about their delightfully sour and creamy Lemon Tart before, and we’ll do it again.
Woodside Inn, Lower Parel
The sunniest of all Woodside outlets offers Avocado on Toast for their brunch menu each Sunday. Along with a series of classic dishes like Eggs Benedict, Grilled Chicken Burger, and a Weekend Roast served in their classic, careful execution, there’s little doubt about this one being a quality blend of cream and crunch.
Quick tip: This outlet has over twenty craft beers pouring at any time.
