Escaping The City’s Chaos At Hotel Marine Plaza | MF Staycation
Admiring the flower-laden pool terrace, I took in the breath-taking sea view and gazed at the lights along the bay. With a refreshing watermelon juice, I was at Hotel Marine Plaza‘s Allamanda terrace which I can say is really hard to resist. A swift check-in was followed by brunch at The Bayview and some downtime by the pool.
The nautical décor at The Bayview complete with ship models and portholes is accentuated by stunning vistas of the city. While I didn’t have a chance to try the a la carte menu here, the brunch will spoil you with choice across cuisines. I particularly relished the Mutton Kheema whipped up fresh at the live-station. With a perfectly calibrated amount of spices and the right consistency of mince, this one had me at the very first bite.
From the 40 suites and 28 sea-facing rooms, I suggest you check into the elegantly-furnished Special Suites. The wall-to-ceiling glass panels from the living area to the bedroom reveal a bird’s eye view of the Queen’s Necklace. I found the abundant coffee table book and magazine options as a thoughtful touch along with the free Wi-Fi. Waking up to the spectacular view of the glistening Arabian Sea make it all the more worth it.
If you’re here on business, there’s a fairly big meeting space that you can opt for. Also you can get valet parking and airport transfers. Its five-story atrium, with enthusiastically English pub, Geoffrey’s on the ground floor is perfect for a swish evening of drinks with friends or family. It is known to be one of the oldest pubs in the city.
I also experienced The Oriental Blossom Restaurant here where Master chef Hung Tae Sing regaled me with fairly good dim sum, Crispy Prawns in Wasabi Sauce and some delectable Date Pancakes. The great Chinese food here was definitely the best part of my experience here.
Although staff were plentiful, there was a sense that the service needs to pick up pace; I sat at The Bayview for more than hour without being asked if I wanted to order something.
Apart from the spacious rooms and good food, the hotel’s location allows you to opt for a Bombay heritage walk or simply enjoy Marine Drive at night. I would also recommend you to catch the gorgeous sunrise and sunset, you’ll love how the sky changes its hues! Given the hotel’s location, good rooms and amenities, the prices are a steal. After all, amidst the chaos of Mumbai, there’s solace nestled within certain parts of the city. To discover that, Hotel Marine Plaza has to be one of the best places to be.
