5 New Places To Visit That Opened Over A Weekend

If you want more proof of Mumbai’s fast-moving pace, especially in the hospitality industry, look no further. Over the span of one weekend (28th to 30th April), 5 unique new spots opened all over the city. These are split across budget, locality, cuisine, and target audiences.

Hemant Oberoi, BKC

If there’s anyone who deserves an eponymous restaurant in Mumbai, it’s chef Hemant Oberoi. After helming restaurants like Zodiac Grill, Souk, and Golden Dragon at Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, his first stand-alone restaurant in India was launched in BKC on 28th April. The restaurant will serve European, Peruvian, and Asian-inspired dishes. Pan roasted Scallops w/ Bacon Risotto & Salted Caramel, Lamb Loin w/ Goat Cheese, and a Brie & Truffle Soufflé are some of the dishes on their lunch menu. The dinner menu includes Pork Belly w/ Black Rice Carbonara and Miso Black Cod w/ Pickled Pepper.

Lord of the Drinks, Veera Desai Area

This Delhi-import lounge by restaurateur Priyank Sukhija was launched in the ever-growing Veera Desai Area on 29th April. Spread across two levels, they have a grand space with a unique bar setup on each floor. An extensive bar menu lists cocktails like Butter Beer – vodka, beer, whiskey, apple juice, and caramel syrup, Asian Cooler – white rum, cucumber juice, rose water, and lime juice, and LOTD The Colony –  whiskey and triple sec w/ lemon juice, chocolate, and rosemary. The food menu includes Nachos, Fries, Dim Sums, Pizzas, and Tandoori Platters, among a plethora of dishes. Desserts include a Paan Ice Cream Martini, and Malpua Lasagne.

Henpecked, Fort

Following a farm-to-fork concept, Henpecked has opened in place of Farmer & Sons. Breakfast is available till 6 PM, with options like Eggs Decker, Morning Bowl – kale, avocado, egg, yogurt, and more, and local favourites like Quinoa & Barley Upma. Choose between a stack of 2, 4, or 8 buttermilk pancakes with your choice of toppings. They also have a Grab & Go counter, restocked daily. The menu lists a range of burgers, pastas, pizzas, and sharing plates, and desserts like Apple Crumble Pie, Cheese Cake, and Hazelnut Crème Brulee. The farmhouse-inspired cocktail menu has a Kambucha w/ Tequila & Curacao, and Herb Tea Margarita.

Craving Salad, Bandra

Evident from its name, this café serves calorie-counted salads and vegan, gluten-free smoothies. Choose from their Taco Salad, BBQ Chicken Salad, Greek Salad, and Watermelon Feta. Protein packed salads include Tuna Apple – tuna, celery, and red apple, Arugula Chicken – arugula, grilled chicken, red cabbage,  and baby carrots, and Spinach Almond – boiled eggs, baby spinach, broccoli, almond, tomatoes.

D:OH!, Fun Republic Andheri 

The second outlet of this all-day casual diner opened in Andheri on 30th April. While the food menu is same across both outlets, the drinks here include wine, beer, and classic cocktails like LIIT. With warmer interiors than the Kamala Mills outlet, both spaces follow the self-service concept. The menu has options like Sriracha Chicken Tenders, Wicked Fries, Amritsari Fish & Chips, Double Cheese Chilli Melt Sandwich, Baida Roti, and Mac & Cheese. You can also indulge in Freakshakes, Smoothies, Mocktails, and Cold Brew Coffees. A range of homemade ice creams includes flavours like Grilled Pineapple, Coconut & Lime, and Coffee Brownie.
