Which is your favourite spot to eat at in Lokhandwala?

Being a resident of Andheri, I have grown up eating in and around the area. Having a lot of friends in Lokhandwala, I often end up dining there. This piece is dedicated to those restaurants I always end up eating at and cannot get enough of.

Bookmark this for the time, you happen to be in Lokhandwala!

Indigo Delicatessen

One of my favourite home grown chains, is also home to the dreamiest cheesecake I have ever eaten. I’d pick the Cheesecake of the Day here at any hour, day or night. The soft, light consistency of the cake ensures a warm, comforting familiarity with each bite. You’ll find this extremely easy to polish off with a generous splash of the blueberry compote.

White Rose Cafe

I happened to be taking a stroll on a Lokhandwala back road, when I came across this quaint cafe. Featuring both beautiful outdoor and cosy indoor seating, this cafe is perfect to stop by for a quiet book reading session with a cuppa chamomile tea or coffee. In terms of food, they have a great variety of all-day breakfast items, soups, salads, pizzas and pastas. My favourites here are the Cream of Mushroom soup when I prefer a light meal and the Pesto Chicken Pasta when I don’t mind indulging in some carbs. Also, by night, this space transforms into a romantic date spot with pretty lights, so if you’re planning a date night in Lokhandwala, you know where to go.

I am a sucker for a good South Indian meal and this restaurant offers an extensive menu that covers special dishes from five states of South India. I have only visited once but plan to go back real soon. On that visit, I tried their Surmai Tawa Style, which was a beautiful, tender fish fry coated with a spicy and zesty marinate. If you love biryanis, do try the Chettinad Biryani. Wrap up your meal with their delicious mango kulfi, which is just what you need in this blistering heat.

In the mood for a taste of Kolkata street food? Look no further than Hanglas, Lokhandwala. This takeaway joint dishes up tender chicken, mutton and fish rolls spruced up with lime and red onion. Must have rolls here are the Chicken Bhuna Roll, Fish Kheema Roll and their Egg Roll. I always end up calling for a roll along with their Fish Chop, that features soft bhetki fish cutlets served with a special mustard dip. I just had this yesterday and am craving it again already!

Warden Bakery

Located in the heart of Lokhandwala’s busy market, this place has tickled a peanut-crunchy-munchy part of my heart. The Gujarati version of an English Muffin ‘Dabeli’ is made here with a genius blend of softness and crunch, having the right balance of sweet and spicy! Swing by to try this out, you won’t be disappointed.

Kale And Kaffe

If you are all about healthy eating, this eatery is just what you were looking for. Food that is high on flavour and light on calories is what you can expect. They whip up fresh salads, juices, wraps and guilt-free desserts. Even better? They have an open salad bar, so you can customize your own salads with the ingredients you like.

August Cafe

If you happen to be a fan of Friends and live in Lokhandwala, this cutesy neighbourhood cafe can be your version of Central Perk. It’s my go-to for dates, catch ups and causal meetings. I love them for their freshly baked breads and steaming cups of coffee. Satiate your gluttony with their homemade August Ice Cream Sundae, which is what my dessert dreams are made of.

High Point

Standing tall for over 30 years, this iconic vegetarian restaurant is always a pick for steaming idlis, extra cheesy pav bhaji and chaat! An appetizing, budget-friendly meal with friends is what you can have here.

Su Casa

Bandra’s lively night spot, has found a second home in Lokhandwala and in my heart too. Courtesy: their authentic European food, killer cocktails and heart-warming desserts. This place aces a fiery Smoked Jerk Chicken Pizza and Bruleed Cheesecake. Additional points for the well-balanced emphasis on the aesthetic of the space and food presentation.

Coffee By Di Bella

Freshly brewed coffee and rich, oozing Eggs B are my regulars at this cafe. On days I am feeling a bit down, their dreamy waffles always manage to brighten my spirit.

Theobroma Patisserie

This popular bakery and patisserie chain has a breakfast menu that is good enough to get me jumping out of bed on a lazy Sunday morning. I am always struggling to decide between their pancakes, English breakfast trays, Eggs Kejriwal and Eggs Benedict. You cannot leave this place without devouring the Chip Butty, a massive burger bun stuffed with French fries, dollops of mayonnaise and laden with melted cheese. Sounds tempting, right?

Silver Beach Cafe

Branching out from their Juhu outlet, Silver Beach Cafe has set up in Shastri Nagar, Lokhandwala. This pretty cafe with a lush outdoor patio has seriously Instagram-worthy interiors! Food wise, they have added a lot of the best-selling dishes from the Juhu outlet to the menu along with a few new additions. My picks from the menu are the Banana Yoghurt Berry Smoothie, Spicy Chicken and Avocado Burger and the Grilled Tiger Prawns with Saffron Coconut Rice and a Tamarind Sauce.

Love and Cheesecake

Shopping for a cake in Lokhandwala? This place has you sorted. I never get tired of exploring their great variety of cheesecakes. Split into layered, chocolate, cold and baked cheesecakes, there are about 35 versions available here. New York, Blueberry, and Chocolate cheesecakes are most popular.

For those who are more interested in getting a drink, check out some of my favourite bars in the area.

When I think of Doolally, all that comes to my head is their awesome house fries and delicious craft beer. This is one of my favourite spots to hang out with friends, sipping on their delicious, freshly brewed beers, and getting our game on with one of their many board games. An insider tip would be to go there before 7 PM, as it tends to get crowded.

Fun Republic Social

This outpost has two sections, one for dining and the other that houses a bar, a few tables and a spacious setting for you to get your dancing shoes on. I always end up visiting on a Wednesday night, to get rid of my mid-week blues with their classic Cosmopolitan teamed with a couple of bar bites.

The Irish House

Located at Fun Republic Mall, this friendly neighbourhood bar is the perfect watering hole for post work drinking plans. Also, on a Saturday, it turns into a party pad.

Independence Brewing Co

Yes, so as y’all can see Lokhandwala is home to a ton of breweries. What’s special about Independence is that, they have happy hours from 5 PM to 8 PM, and have a kickass deal of 3 plus 3 on craft beers and cocktails. So, head there and get buzzed while saving a buck or two.

What sets this space apart is it’s vibrant setting and varied offers on drinks and food. They have daily deals which makes D:OH a super pocket friendly space to dine and drink at. My favourite dishes here are the Mac and Cheese and the Chicken Stroganoff. Also, take part in their WTF Burger challenge, where you can win exciting prizes while chomping on a one pound burger. Also, on Wednesdays, flash your corporate visiting card and get your first beer on the house.

Lord Of The Drinks

I love when one of my favourite venues from South Mumbai moves to the suburbs! Lord of the Drinks is known for its high energy bar, delicious cocktails and wide variety of bar bites. You can find me here on any given Friday or Saturday night, dancing up a storm!
