Serotonin, Lokhandwala’s Newest Delivery Kitchen | All The Deets
Serotonin literally is a happiness inducing hormone and when founder Saachi Nayak decided to start her delivery kitchen: Serotonin-The Kitchen, her motto was to whip up food that makes you feel like you’re on cloud nine.
Located in Lokhandwala, this delivery kitchen focuses on providing clean, healthy, nutritious and delicious food made with locally grown organic ingredients that helps boost the serotonin levels in your body, making you feel happy. Their menu lists salad bowls, smoothies, sandwiches, cheat day meals, cold pressed juices, soups, and healthy desserts. The dishes are all made with oat flour, jaggery and virgin cold pressed coconut oil and the kitchen doesn’t use any egg, sugar, butter or flour.
I started off my meal with their Mediterranean Bowl made with couscous and a yogurt dressing. They can definitely tone down the garlic in the dressing that had an overpowering effect. The addition of pomegranate added the perfect crunch and sweetness to the dish.
You have to give the Kale And Quinoa Salad With Grilled Chicken a try. This dish features tender chicken with tricolour quinoa, fresh avocado, kale, broccoli, roasted beets, pumpkins, toasted almonds, sunflower seeds and a mustard vinaigrette. The flavour of beetroot shined through the salad and the addition of almonds made it more exciting to dig into. Overall, it had a good balance of sweet and tangy flavours.
I also tried the Mexican Burrito Bowl, which was served with organic black rice, iceberg lettuce, charred corn, kidney beans, jalapenos, salsa, cilantro, and baked tortilla crisps, with lime. Spicy, zesty and flavoursome, I could literally eat this every day.
Name a healthy place that doesn’t have smoothie bowls? I’ll wait. This kitchen lets you customize your smoothie bowls so you can savour it, just as you like it. If you don’t want to rack your brains, just order from their pre-decided combinations of Power Smoothie bowls. I tried two of the smoothie bowls listed on their menu. The first one being a Pink Antioxidant Smoothie Bowl that was filled with the goodness of fresh strawberry, bananas, frozen mangoes and granola. The second one titled the Purple Brain Power Smoothie Bowl should be called the Banana Overdose smoothie bowl as that was all I could taste!
The Herbed Chicken Sandwich made with chicken breast, pickled red onion, balsamic roasted tomatoes, fresh avocado and mixed greens would have been a good order if the bread was softer and easier to bite into.
Order the Pork Banh Mi, a French baguette topped with chicken pate, braised pork, pickled carrots, cucumbers, radish, jalapenos and cilantro.
On days you are craving something sweet, yet healthy, call for their healthy, indulgent desserts. They have a ton of options. I tried their Flourless Walnut and Banana Bread, Raw cocoa and Zucchini Flourless Cake with Orange Yogurt Frosting and the Vegan, Dairy Free and Gluten Free Brownie.
The Flourless Walnut and Banana Bread was moist, tender and really banana-y.The Raw Cocoa and Zucchini Flourless Cake with Orange Yogurt Frosting was a slice of yumminess! Though the combination might sound odd, don’t refrain from ordering it. Lastly, the Dairy Free and Gluten Free Brownie, which was filled with sweet potato, pumpkin, raw jaggery, raw cocoa and cinnamon-y goodness, was a star on their menu!
You can order from Serotonin-The Kitchen via Zomato, Uber Eats and Swiggy or even just pick it up. Eat healthy and be happy is definitely my motto after trying this place.
